Lavender Festival

 Red Creek, NY

July 14, 2024

This Sunday, we had some exciting things planned. I met at Kelly's house and attended the community site associated with my home church with her, and then we headed to Red Creek, NY to attend the Lavender Festival.

Kelly and I had met Lola at our camping meet up and it was Lola who had inquired about our awareness of the Witchy Women of the Finger Lakes. I had not heard of them, but we knew they would be here and performing. So thank you Lola for mentioning them.

We both tried a tasting of lavender wine. It was not my favorite if I recall. Honestly, lavender is really about the smell, not the taste, but when in Rome as they say. By the way, the smells around here were insane.
There was a one man band, who played some good old 80's music. I recall that many were Billy Joel.
Then it was time for the Witchy Women of the Finger Lakes.....

They did a few dances, it was cute.

They also had a booth with witchy crafts, including witch hats  & Brooms your could purchase. (I was way to cheep to make any purchases).

Many of the other booths had crafts, toys, jewelry you could purchase.

I had some chocolate strawberry ice cream. It was super hot, as you can see by the melts.....

and lots of Lavender. What can I add? It was a nice little festival, like most, there were items to purchase, things for kids to do, music and in this case lots and lots of lavender. It was enjoyable and we had a great although hot day for the event, but that is really all I can say about it. Fun certainly.....TTFN

Fairy Trail & Wild Wings

Mendon Ponds Park
Honeoye Falls, NY
June 24, 2024

A trip down a fairy trail sounded like something I totally needed, and Kelly was willing to join me. I came and picked her up (with Shannon) and we headed towards the Rochester area. We arrived and headed straight for the Fairy trail. This was a short trail walk into the woods. Along the trail were these cute little fairy houses and towns made from bark, tree stumps, wood, and strings. It was super cute.
I have always imagined that the woods held a secret fairy world where the fairies and the wood creatures lived together much like the story tales I read as a child.

They were so stinkin cute!

The cute little Tooth Fairy home, and some toad humor.

They are super cute, and I had fun imagining what these little fairies might look like. Oh yeah, and there are always trolls in these places as well.

It was a nice little forest stroll...

In the same park was a special surprise. There was a wilderness wildlife rescue center, called Wild Wings Animal Sanctuary. Admission is free, but they take donations.

The sanctuary offered a visit with several types of birds.

This big girl, was singing. Well not really, but she was making some serious noise. I tried to record her because I had never heard the noise of an eagle. She stopped immediately when I pressed record. She apparently is camera shy.

Inside there were a few additional animals. This porcupine was so cute.

Some frogs
and this little turtle.

It was a fun day out. After our visit with the ferries and the animals, we enjoyed a picnic lunch. Great day out in nature with friends. TTFN
