The girls go DRAG: Brunch

 Rochester NY ROAR

April. 7th 2024

( I've been busy trying to catch up on my blog....but I am caught up on one longer trip that happened in March...(The Mothman) so this is out of my traditional sequence...but this blog was already done...so here is a fast forward drop.)

For the longest time, I have wanted to go check out a DRAG show. I know that my time in the area is limited, so I began seeking out local shows so that me and my friends could enjoy going. I found ROAR in Rochester NY and they were hosting a Drag Brunch. Me, Kelly, my daughter, Tammy and Patty made our way to Rochester to get a glimpse of what Drag is all about.

Now, I had no idea what I was getting into here, but I was welcoming a good time, no judgement and lots of laughs spent with my friends.
We all had a few cocktails. I had a Mimossa, some of the girls got this Bloody Mary with bacon pieces. We enjoyed drinks and had the brunch before the show was to begin.  The host was DeeDee Debloius. She came over to our table and chatted with us, she even got us a group selfie.

There were 6 performers each provided 2 shows, so we had a long day ahead of us. There were three traditional drag performers. 1 Drag Queen, which was new to me. I believe it is a women who dresses as a man, and 1 burlesque performer, this was my most shocking.  (performances are listed backward here)
Here's DeeDee

The Drag King, he gave a hell of a show including a priest like costume and providing wooden crosses.
Max a Million

A little interlode....I'm not sure what was going on here, might be a little drunk? But the girls were being silly.

My favorite outfit goes to Vivian Darling. She had some of the best dresses.

The little burlesque show....well let me just give it to this gal for being so confident in her body. She just let it all hang out...when she opened up her bra....well that was a show.

I had several more pictures and some videos, I just didn't feel right posting some of them.

We were encouraged to get up and give a little $ through each show, I did a little dance up to the stage and did my part. We all did. Tammy was a little uncomfortable with this, but she was shoved into it by Patty. Here my daughter is giving some bucks.
This gal, was the best dancer. She even did a pole dance.

My favorite part was the dancing. I jumped around in my seat dancing and singing most of the show. I wished I could be all dolled up and up on that stage. Just a little jelly.

It was an enjoyable time. An experience for sure. The group did a great job and they are very talented. I am not sure if I would do this kind of thing again, not that I didn't enjoy myself, if there was another show and my friends wanted to go, I would be all in. It's just not something that I would do like this again. I did love the ladies, they were all so much fun. I love that these women/men could be themselves and I certainly felt that I could be myself there too. Fun times.

Solar Eclipse 2024: totality CLOUDs

 Auburn. NY

April 8th 2024

Like most of the population within the path of the 2024 eclipse, I was hyped. I had my glasses well in advance of the event and planned my day accordingly. As it so happened Auburn was having an Eclipse party. So.....it was a date.  Unfortunately for me, it was an incredibly disappointing date after all.

We should have planned better for the eats, cauz my very expensive hot dog was looking rather sad. Anyway, after finding a nice place to sit in the baseball field, (where the party was being held) and enjoying some free Eclipse Cake, we all fretted about the CLOUDS that covered the skies. There were other activities available to participate in and we watched the eclipse in real time as it past over other states feeling increasingly excited as we watched and heard the crowd in Indianapolis roar with the incredible sight of the total eclipse.

This unfortunately was what we were seeing. I was hopeful however. We remembered watching some eclipse when we were kids viewing the movement through a pin hole in a paper plate. I somehow recalled looking at the sun through the pin hole, Kelly wasn't sure. We were corrected by a visiting NASA employee that it was more likely we had watched the shadows of the moon on the ground through the plate and not actually looked at the sun through the plate. We joked about how relaxed the 70's were, wondering just how many stupid kids looked up even when we were all told not to and damaged their eyes.
Everyone would get excited when there was a hint of something showing.....me tooo

we got some glimpses....

None one could see anything through those stupid glasses, although I did try as if that would somehow will the clouds to go away.  I was so prepared not to go blind.

We searched to see something with the black out shades.

It got exciting when it went dark and off in the distance you could see the light. It was unusual and really neat, but still clouds were in the way of the sun. It was almost as if the clouds stopped right in the way, laughing at me for being so dang excited about this event. Ha Ha, the laughs on me cause I saw nothin.  Ill admit I was quite disappointed. Angry even.  The sun coming out after it was all over....

Well, where ever you were on this day, I do hope that you got a better view. Perhaps you were in Indiana and saw what was an amazing eclipse. TTFN

florida feb 2024

Florida Space Coast
Feb. 12- Feb 21st 2024

This will be a fairly short blog post, as there was nothing major that happened on this becoming routine trip to Florida and back. (I also spared myself and you all another trip I took a few days ago to Disney with the Tulip group...)
The 18 hour drive to Florida has become routine. We got to Melbourne in the afternoon and after relaxing at the apartment, we headed for dinner. I noted these big birds as we walked in.

We had dinner at Fiesta Azul Tequila house. This was incredibly yummy and I had this gigantic margarita!

Bed was welcomed that evening and we pretty much spent the next few days enjoying the apartment pool, the scheduled activities and time with our son and my mother in law. On Valentines Day, Mark and I had dinner at The Mansion.

Our table overlooked the Indian-Atlantic River area and the views were beautiful. Happy Valentines Day.

As we were having dinner we had the special viewing of one of Musk's rockets taking off. Mark claimed he called Musk himself to make this happen to be romantic. LOL It was pretty cool to see.

One evening, we were graced by entertainment at the apartment. This lovely violinist (I forget her name) has come several times to the apartment and she plays beautifully.

We enjoyed her music as well as fruits dipped in chocolate.

One afternoon we took a walk in "the jungle". We actually ended it early as Riley was struggling with the heat. I was actually worried about him. We must face the reality that he is getting older.

It was a beautiful walk.

One day we went to one of those BIN sales and an antique mall. There were some interesting things and I loved all the cool items at the antique mall.

I got some yummies from the food truck that came to the apartment one night and enjoyed my book.

It was a nice week full of fun and family. Homeward bound...
