Day 2: Disney 2018

April 21st 2018
Ocala, Florida

After our long drive we finally made it to Caitlyn's house and the short trip into Orlando the following day. Caitlyn used to work with the three of us, and had moved to Florida a few months back. It was very nice of her and her family to let us all stay the evening and entertain us during the day. She has a beautiful family. Everyone was very welcoming including Red, her dog.

Caitlyn had just had her youngest about a year before she and her family moved. Here she is with Morgan. Her older son is Wyatt.
Her family took us to Rainbow River for a nice walk. First thing I notice is the gator sign.
Do people REALLY molest gators? Not nice.

We all enjoyed a nice walk along this paved path threw the trees.

It is such a different woods from the NY area trails.

Beautiful.

We didn't see any gators. but we did see some turtles.

The Rainbow River.

and another turtle. He is well camouflaged all covered in moss. Wonder if this algae grows on his shell?

We found another turtle hiding under some wood bark along the trail.

Being silly....
Awe....my pretty friends.
...and a very tired little boy.

I thought this moss was part of a type of tree, until Caitlyn explained that this is Spanish Moss and it grows on everything. She also reported that it kills the host trees too. It sure is everywhere.
This little inlet area is where one would take a tube, or a kayak. If I was here with my own kayak I would so be doing this. How nice it is.
This gentleman was taking his paddle boat out with his pup on board.
After a nice stroll Aimee, Stefanie and I headed out for a bite to eat. We found the Blue Gator!
We simply had to try gator bites. They taste much like chicken, a really salty chicken. I had a few until I started thinking about it. Then I was over it.

I'll have some chicken instead. Wonder why I don't have the same response to eating these guys.

The food was really good, and we ate right on the river.

Stef and Aimee eating the gator bites....

We saw a ton of these little lizard's everywhere.

After dinner we headed back to Caitlyn's house for a low stress evening. We spent time talking and relaxing Caitlyn even made us snow cones.

We got a shot of all of us before we left for Orlando the following morning! Then it was off to Disney Springs. Thank you so much Caitlyn for your hospitality.

TTFN!!!!!
