Brevard Zoo

Melbourne, Florida
Oct. 16th 2023

Bubbe and I decided to enjoy the Brevard Zoo one day. This zoo will not disappoint. I wasn't expecting much, but the place is done well and they have a big variety of animals. We were told as we entered that the Lions, Rhinos and Giraffe would not be out until after 1pm, which was fine, we surly would still be there after 1.

They have a great kids zone and petting area. We didn't spend much time here, but there are area for kids to play, several places to sit and relax with a ton of trees to relax under. My kids would have loved it here when they were little.

A big smile from the manta ray.
Over the pond area. an area where you can feed the fish. These little birds hoovered. They knew where to get some spilled grub.

This beauty was my favorite. There is a literal cat walk that hangs above the path where this leopard was pacing. She was simply gorgeous. There was a woman there who was able to tell us her name and some facts, but I forgot both. Apparently the women comes here often, she was not part of the staff.  Good for her.

The enclosures for these animals was what really set this place apart from other zoos. You could tell that the design tried very hard to make it seamless into the natural surroundings

The monkey's were great!

The beautiful birds.

This guy looks creepy. I do not remember what this animal is called, and that's ok, I just don't want to run into him anywhere in the wild or captivity, YIKES
They had an Australia area.
The dingo looks like a cute puppy, there is no way this guy could take someone's baby. (The Dingo ate your baby) Seinfeld.

More birds....

We headed to the "savanna" in search of the African beasts. It was after 1pm so we were ready for some lions, rhinos and giraffe.  Well, we waited and waited and waited. Nope, all we got was this Zebra.

There had been construction going on in the area, so it would seem that they had not let the animals out for both the workers and the animals protection. It was disappointing, but it was ok. We did mention that we were unable to see these animals, and the staff gave us free return tickets. THAT IS SUPER NICE, and not necessary. Thank you Brevard Zoo that was above and beyond. I didn't plan to return, but Bubbe could bring a friend perhaps.

This zoo has some additional exciting activities that you can add on to your admission that we did not partake in, but it sounds like so much fun. They have kayaking tours along the Nyami Nyami River that takes you past the giraffe, rhinos, and lemurs and into the wetlands of Florida. (if these guys are out and about). There is a train ride past camels African cattle and Antelope. They offer feedings, and rainforest adventure. They also have an Okapi, rhino  and Sloth encounter. (I don't know what an Okapi is, but it sounds interesting). You can feed and touch the Stingrays. Lots of WILD activities.
It was a fun day, kudos to Brevard. They have an amazing zoo here.
If your a zoo person, I highly recommend a visit. They have several different kinds of animals and the layout is great. Good Day. TTFN
