Camp-North Central NY Memorial Day weekend
Central NY weather is erratic. Days of 80-90 degree's then down to lows in the 30's. Rain
and HOT humid sunshine all within a few days span. It is crazy. Our Memorial Day weekend started out as so cold we all bundled up in blankets and hooded sweatshirts. Later that same week we were grateful to have our pool. Unfortunate for Friday of that weekend, we endured 30 degree temps with consistent rainfall. BUT...we were at camp for the 1st time of the season and we were not about to let a little cold rain get us down. So we huddled under the awning with blankets and spent much more time indoors then usual. Dinner was pizza ordered from a local joint and outdoor activities became table games at the dinette.
Outdoor time was much less then usual. But we had lots of company and there is only so much room indoors. Stefanie; my former co-worker and friend was about to move to Orlando Florida for a new job. This would be the last weekend we would be spending at camp. She and and my son stayed the whole weekend keeping me company once my husband decided he needed to return home on Sat. (BTW- Stefanie did set out to move to Florida later that week to find that her future apartment was NOT the one she had viewed online and quickly turned around back to NY until she can find one more suitable.)
Stefanie's best friend and her boyfriend also joined us for some games. Nikki
My eldest Nick, trying to keep warm.
Enjoying a few games in the cold.
By the following day, the chill was still in the air, but the RAIN stopped. (Very thankful) it also warmed up as the day progressed, but we started a fire immediately to take the chill of the night away. I would say I did a pretty good job.
Most of the camp morning was spent sitting by the fire drinking coffee and relaxing. My son was craving breakfast pizza, so he treated us all to a special bacon egg and cheese delight. Later, Stefanie and I went to visit another old co-worker and friend Caitlyn who lives in the area. I had visited her and her family while they lived in Florida in 2018, so it was nice to see her. Later my daughter and her friends came up to spend the evening. We all played "beer" pong. I do not totally understand the drinking part of this game since I sipped my wine the whole time. (LOL) I actually did pretty well for my very 1st try and since we had a few youngsters with us (Baily) the game became more of a game of sport then drinking.
My daughter Alexis and Baily are a team.
Nick and Stefanie played us and loss.
Baily and her father, "Brother" Jay enjoying the game.
Burgers and dogs on the grill followed by roasted marshmellows. Stefanie had one's with chocolate in the middle and they were super yummy.
Day light turned to night and we all sat by the fire enjoying the company.
I found a new filter on my phone and Baily enjoyed sparklers.
It was a wonderful evening. The following day, Renee and David came up for a visit. Still a little cold, but nice with friends.
We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Until next camp trip. TTFN
