A visit with the Horses

Vernon, NY
March 19th 2022

Last year, Mark purchased a race horse named Kisses from Above. He did fairly well over all for his 1st year, but struggled with a number of misfortunate ailments. He had a bacterial infection that affects the brain, as well as some breathing problems. Both were treated and he is doing well ever since. However, because of these set backs, he was entered into the fairground circuit. He did very well in this arena winning 1st place often. Mark purchased a second horse this spring. Her name is Crazy Beach. She is a bit bigger then KFA, and she is a beast. We took the morning to go out and visit these two beauties and share some carrots.

Crazy Beach is a little skiddish yet. I am told this is common for younger horses. She's two.
Kisses on the other hand is sooooo affectionate. He loves to nuzzel. He just doesn't seem to run. He was having trouble around the last turn going into the stretch. I joked that he was so sweet, he just simply let the other horses pass him. Mark and his co-owners do not want SWEET, they want him to RUN.

We got to stay and see Crazy Beach train on the track. She is big, and the trainer says she's got "somthin".
There she goes.
Sh
She's got a good stride.
They worked her hard, she's sweaty from the run.

Once back in the barn, we got to see her get a bath. She enjoyed this.
Then once in her stall, she fell to the ground and began to roll around. It was amazing to watch her roll around in that little area.
Covered in sawdust...now she is all set.

It was a fun morning enjoying the horses. We can't wait for the season to begin so we can root for these guys in the races.
